AusHSI Clinical Director Leads Landmark Study

By September 4, 2017 No Comments

The Medical Journal of Australia has published the results of a research project led by AusHSI’s clinical director Professor Will Parsonage and emergency medicine specialist Professor Louise Cullen.

The Accelerated Chest-pain Risk Evaluation (ACRE) project, was funded by the Clinical Excellence Division of Queensland Health, and tested the effect of an accelerated diagnostic protocol (ADP) for patients presenting to emergency departments with chest pain. ACRE trialled a two-hour ADP in the emergency rooms of 16 Queensland hospitals between 2013 and 2015, resulting in fewer hospital admissions, shorter stays, and significant cost-reduction.

The articles appears in v. 207, no. 5 of the Medical Journal of Australia, a peer-reviewed publication of the Australian Medical Association, and can be accessed via the links below.
