About Us

As a research, consultancy and training organisation, AusHSI is focused on introducing new evidence into practice. Our goal is to facilitate greater efficiencies and improved patient outcomes.

Founded in 2011, AusHSI began as a partnership between Queensland Health, The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the University of Queensland.

Our founding partners recognised the important contribution AusHSI could make to creating a sustainable healthcare system. Australians spend roughly 10% of GDP on health services, and this amount is growing. There is a need to curb growth in future spending and improve value for money by reducing waste and harmful services.

Since our beginning, we have collaborated with a range of organisations to deliver large scale, Government-funded, competitive grants. All our projects are delivered in partnership with health service providers. We provide practical insights and independent guidance on how to identify, implement and evaluate innovation for real‑life health practice problems.

Today, we are a self-supported research group based within QUT’s Faculty of Health. We offer a broad range of health service research activities This includes several programs and areas of strength. For further information, click here .

Based within QUT, together with our nursing partners, we also form part of QUT’s Centre for Healthcare Transformation, a multi-disciplinary health services research organisation.

As we enter our second decade, we are well positioned to build on our strong foundations. We continue to extend our partnerships and grow capacity for health service organisations to evolve and improve based on latest research.
