Who benefits from early career funding: evidence from the Medical Research Council in the UK.
Charitini Stavropoulou is an Associate Professor in Health Services Research at City University of London. As the co-director of the Centre for Healthcare Innovation Research (CHIR) she is interested in understanding the barriers and facilitators in implementing research and innovation in healthcare practice.
A/Prof Charitini Stavropoulou will first provide a brief overview of the work CHIR has been doing over the past five years. She will then focus on the work she did while on secondment to the Medical Research Council in the UK, during which she evaluated the council’s early career schemes. She will present the results of a mixed methods study she employed to quantify the impact of early career schemes and also to understand more in depth the challenges early career researchers face while transitioning to independence.
