Sumudu Hewage
Research Fellow
Sumudu is an early-career researcher and medical doctor specializing in public health. She earned her MBBS in Sri Lanka and later completed both an MSc and an MD in Public Health at the University of Colombo. Drawing on her robust clinical background from work in acute and chronic care settings, she has significantly contributed to the development of national strategic plans, health policies, and clinical guidelines in Sri Lanka, addressing key areas such as tuberculosis control, cancer detection, and maternal and child health.
At AusHSI, Sumudu leverages her diverse expertise to translate evidence into practical interventions that enhance patient outcomes and service delivery. Her research interests span across health equity, mental health, epidemiology, digital health and implementation science, with a commitment to bridging the gap between academic inquiry and real-world application.
