Clifford Afoakwah
Senior Research Fellow – Health Economics
Clifford is a health economist with training in applied economics. Currently working within the Trauma and Injury research program lead by AusHSI and the Jamieson Trauma Institute, he has previously worked on the economics of cardiovascular disease using linked administrative health data.
Clifford’s current research focuses on the economics of trauma and injuries. Specifically, he is researching the economic cost of transport and work-related injuries, burden of injuries, as well as environmental and economic drivers of injuries using linked administrative health and insurance claims data. Clifford has expertise in the economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, burden of disease studies, health econometrics, and applied microeconometrics. He is interested in using real world data to provide translational evidence that can help improve the quality of life and health outcomes of people with chronic and/or acute health conditions.
